Here at Rapid Wrench, we don’t just service these bikes as our job, they are our lifeblood! We ride and work using cargo-bikes ourselves, so we perfectly understand how enabling they are. For starters, our mechanic Fin comes out to his mobile service jobs on our LarryVsHarry Bullitt cargo bike with a custom trailer attached.
We’re very proud that we can have a green inner-city service vehicle option. Most of our team also ride cargo bikes to carry kids, do pickups, shipping and deliveries, general commutes across town, moving people around festivals, and even the casual beach couples rides down in St Kilda.
Not every cargo-bike costs extra to service. There are a handful of bikes that fall in to the cargo-utility segment, however they’re neither more complex nor take more time to work through a service.

20″ without gears: less than $75
20-24″ with gears: $50-100
26″ with gears: $80-150

Once per year when being used once or twice a week.
*Price includes $100 of labor and $50-80 for genuine seals.
In this service, our aim is to return the fork back to the factory standard. We inspect for damage and correct damper function before replacing the tired, worn seals with new genuine ones. We replace the oil which has picked up dirt or vanished through the seals so that the fork bushes and stanchions are protected.
After re-assembling the forks we check the condition of the headset and give it a clean before re-fitting to the bike. Lastly, we help you get the correct air pressure and settings.
What's Included
- Remove forks completely from bike and clean them
- Separate the upper and lower legs and clean the internals
- Check for wear and damage
- Replace genuine oils and seals
- Clean headset and fittings
- Re-assemble, fit to the bike, check brake pad alignment
- Assist you with correct air pressure and settings
Recommended Frequency
Recommended for mountain bike forks every year for most riders (riding 2-4 times per month), or every 6 months (if riding 1-2 times per week).
Most manufacturers recommend a lower fork leg/air can service every 50 hours of hard riding. How do we interpret the 50 hours? The time would be based upon riding where the suspension is quite active; for example you would count the time spent riding over rough rocks, roots and jumps, but you not count the time riding uphill and on road/fire trails.
