Custom Bike Builds
The Rapid Wrench is proud to offer custom bike builds. These unique creations are built from the frame up with the rider in mind. We will offer our expert consultation process to figure out your dream build. We can work with a mixture of existing second hand frames or parts, or start the whole thing off brand new.
Usually a build starts off with you having a frame you own, or are looking to purchase a specific frame, but need assistance in finding the right parts and putting it all together.
If you have a frame, or are set on a specific frame, we can consult with you regarding appropriate parts and setup for your bike, recommending things that will work, and steering you clear of things that cause regular headaches. This consultation will occur via Phone, video call and email, in order to nut out the nitty-gritty. We do not require that you purchase all or even any parts through us for this consultation, we are offering our expertise so you can make informed decisions. We are of course happy to acquire parts for your build through our suppliers, or work with parts that you supply to us.
I can't supply you a frame, but I can most certainly source all the parts and accessories you require from Australia's mainland cycling distributors. I'm not like a bike store that's tied to working with certain parts - I'm completely un-biased and am happy with work with any brands you have in mind.
When all the parts and are ready to go, we will come and build the bike up at your door.
If you are interested in having a custom bike built by The Rapid Wrench, please don’t hesitate to contact us via email or phone to get the ball rolling. We will schedule a date and time that works for you for an extended phone or video consultation, in which we will cover all the details for your build. If you are happy to proceed with us for your build, we will then go about ordering and organizing the relevant parts for you, as well as book you in for a date and time in which we will build your bike.
So what are you waiting for? Are you excited? We sure are! Contact us about our custom builds today!
I'll set up your bike perfectly at your door. I can even set up your dropper post, tubeless tires, brake/shifter positioning, shock setup- sag, rebound, compression, etc.
We will need to find out what your needs are, and if your custom build fits within our offerings.
To find out your needs, you'll send us an email with as many details as possible about the parts you'd like, and the style of build you're going for. If you want us to run you through each and every part there may be a fee as it can add up to hours worth.
Change deposit required to 20%. Add more pictures to gallery. Add more dot point inclusions to includes on right side.
Pricing for a custom build is highly variable and difficult to say. The price will be based on our hourly rate of $130 and builds typically vary from 4-10 hours depending on complexity.
It's worth noting that we offer 10-15% full-day-rate discounts when hiring us for a full day of 8, 10, or 12 hours.
One factor that will help keep the build on budget is making sure all the parts that are provided to us are clean, correct, and compatible.
You're welcome to provide us partially assembled bikes. Things like having tires and tubes fitted, and handlebars already arranged with stem, levers, and grips how you like it will save us time. However more advanced and safety related items will need to be double checked by us anyway so that we can guarantee our work.
Please note that a deposit of at least 20% of the estimated total is to be paid before we submit large parts orders. It can be paid via direct deposit, PayID, or card-over-the-phone payment. Full payment is required upon handover of the completed bike.
