Bike storage and display

Bike Storage for your

Home or workplace

Whether you have one bike, five or 50+, we can supply and install bicycle-specific storage and display features in homes, garages, and workplaces!

Whether you have just one or a fleet of bicycles (even more importantly for a fleet) we can help you secure them, display them, and make your life that little bit easier.

Make your bike storage safe, space-saving and user-friendly

We attend to call-outs at many different locations, and we get to see many different ways of storing bicycles. Some of them simply take up too much space due to poor design and installation, some of them are unsafe and at risk of damaging the bike or user! Some bike storage is non-ergonomic, and some bike storage is just non-existent!

A Tradie's Quality Installation with a Bikers Touch

We’ll bring the knowledge, the plan, and the tools. You can relax knowing you have a professional to handle your pride and joy. Experience fittings that won’t fall off the wall, and will work with the space you’ve got.

Bike storage racks are designed to solve a problem. Every use case has different priorities, but the fundamental benefits are shared. As you will see, having some well designed bike racks provides many benefits across all its different use cases.

For the home user:

  • Reclaiming floor space.
  • Neat and tidiness.
  • Avoiding scratches and damage.
  • Pride and joy, providing a secure lockup point.
  • Ease of use for anyone, adult or child.

For a building/shared use garage/end-of-trip facility/workplaces:

  • Keeping safe driving and walking passages.
  • Avoiding scratches and damage.
  • Providing a secure lockup point.
  • Maximizing the little storage space offered in apartment living.

For a cafe, library, sports venue, public amenity, etc:

  • Keeping footpaths and dining spaces clear.
  • Avoiding scratches and damage (which in turn; encourages cyclists to visit/shop/spend).
  • Provide a secure lockup point that is also visually appealing in its space, whether being used or not.

We primarily install bike racks in home garages, front patios, or basements. However, there’s no limit to the places where they can go. We have done outdoor installations for cafe or library patrons, for school fleets or for their students, warehouses, bike shops, and workplaces.

All we need is a wall or beam to fit the racks to that will support the weight of a bike and rack. The most common material types we fit to are brick, concrete, and wood studs (usually behind the drywall). Please note, we do not install directly to drywall, or to metal studs behind drywall. We can install to suitably stable metals where they’re exposed (quote required). Brick and concrete installations require a Dynabolt upgrade, outlined in the pricing below.

We can even get creative with finding a location – sometimes we will install a wood or metal cross-beam to create a wall where there previously was none, or where the wall surface was inappropriate for securing bikes and racks to. We even have the capacity, skills, and tooling to fabricate rolling metal carts that your racks will mount to – these are often used by schools, rowing clubs, bike hire venues, and more to allow the movement of bikes while mounted in storage.

Our two wall hook formats

Vertical Wall Hooks

This is the most common type of storage due to its easy mounting. Simply walk your bike holding the handlebars and pull the front wheel in to the air. You can use your knee on the saddle, and your hands on the handlebars to gently lift the bike on to the hook.

Racks like the Steadyrack and Roll-On can easily swivel side to side to allow easy bike placement. You can store the bike right up and close to the wall, and you can push bikes out of the way to allow easy and scratch free mount/dismounts.

You can also “top and tail” the bikes, meaning one is mounted on on the front wheel and the next is mounted on the rear wheel- this means you can fit bikes together in a closer space, and allows room for wide mountain bike handlebars.

These hooks can be installed in so many ways, all it takes is a little creativity.

Parallel Wall Hooks

Parallel hooks keep the bike closer to the wall. Its the best method to not only store a bike, but to DISPLAY the bike neatly. This orientation uses more wall space, but does make way for movement next to, and underneath the bike.

It is also a great method for hanging the bike above head height. This is because you can lift the bike by the rear seat stays and the forks, and easily lift it above your head on to a high parallel hook.

Hooks such as the Cycloc wall mount look great, come in a range of colors for in-home matching, and have a hole for a lock to run through it, and around the bike.

Some hooks have an extending arm that can fold against the wall when not in use.

Installation Pricing

A 15-minute free consultation period is covered to discuss the layout.

As per the pricing chart, our pricing is scaleable. This is because a lot of time is spent measuring and marking. It becomes a more efficient installation process when more racks are installed.

Please note our minimum call-out fee is $99, and there may be a distance fee based on your location. Distance fees can be seen in the drop-down list on the footer of this website.

Our premium racks. We spend ample time considering compact, neat, and accessible fitting locations.

These options are less dependent on perfect height measuring, making for a faster installation.

Dynabolts Upgrade: $4 per rack
Installing into Brick or Concrete?

2x Dynabolts are required per rack for all brick and concrete installations. This is to ensure a lifetime of quality and safety, and is a requirement of our installations in these materials.

Frequently Asked
Questions

Unfortunately, we don’t offer ‘free quotes’ in-person due to the generally low cost of the work in comparison to the travel time and cost to get to your location. Salesmen in other industries generally quote for free due to selling product worth thousands of dollars- that isn’t the case for us.

Option 1:

You’re welcome to send us photos of your space and your bikes, along with a description of your installation location ideas, and the type of wall material that we will install to. With this information we will be happy to discuss pricing by email or phone – FOR FREE.

Option 2:

We can do an on-site quotation – $99 for 30 mins.

Option 3:

Book in a General Service or bigger bike service appointment and we will happily spend an extra 15 minutes discussing your options at no extra cost.

Although our installation prices start from $75, we do set a minimum labor charge of $99 (30 mins), and this will be enough to cover the first rack. Our next tier is $150 (60 mins). This is enough to fit 2 racks and offers better value. Once we’re fitting 3+ racks only the installation fee per rack applies.

Our recommendation if you only want 1-2 racks installed is to supplement the booking with some bike service or repairs during the same booking. This will save you at minimum $25 by reaching our minimums through the bike repairs/service.

    1. You don’t need to invest your time, energy, and potential frustration by installing it yourself. Relax while we take care of the hard work for you.
    2. Our team is very experienced and we’ve already come across most of the issues that come up, and figured out ways to avoid or minimize the damage or hassle this can create. In a way, your problems become our problem. For example, hollow bricks can be quite cumbersome to work with, dyna-bolts can fail to grab hold. Things like that. Problems can arise that make the job take double the time, and that is part of our service.
    3. Our experienced team can talk you through the best areas to set up your racks, ask you how you use your garage, where the car is parked, and make sure there’s space for movement of people. We know how to take the perfect measurements, to get the bike heights just right to minimize any lifting effect required to load the bikes.
    4. You don’t need to invest in tools, drills, measurement gear, or any specialized tools, nor the skills required to use them. For example we now carry a $1500 top notch Bosch radar stud finder to make extra sure that we get the job done right.
    5. Safety is paramount when attaching heavy items to a wall. We make sure that its done right, and your bike won’t fall! Our fee is a small price to pay for piece of mind, never having to worry about any nasty surprises.
    6. We’ve installed hundreds of bike racks since 2017, without a single reported failure.

Yes, we can install bike racks at all these places. Theres no job too big or small.

Most of our work is setting up racks in home garages, however we’ve also done many for school bike fleets, outside cafes to keep the area neat, and at workplaces.

The largest job we have done was a large parking garage underrneath an apartment complex, with over 60 racks being installed over a few days!

At The Rapid Wrench, customer satisfaction is so important to us so we make sure that our service is at the top of our game, always. We’re always listening, learning, and being proactive with new training, tools and technology. We’re building quite the reputation for our service and skill set, so why not check us out on Facebook, WOMO (Word-Of-Mouth-Online), and Google Reviews to see over 1200+ reviews by our customers.

You can also see a compilation of our reviews here on our reviews page.

Yes, all items seen on our website are always kept in stock. However, if you’d like to purchase a large number of items its best to contact us so we can check the availability first.

For payment on-site, we can accept Cash Visa, Mastercard, American Express, bank transfer, and PayID (0416177802). There is no additional charge for any option.

Nothing to worry about there. For bike servicing we work in our vans, not in your garage or driveway.

Even for our bike storage racks installations which do make a lot of dust and wood chips, we always sweep and vacuum after ourselves.

Unfortunately, yes for brick and concrete installations. We use a heavy duty hammer drill to cut through hard rock surfaces to install the dyna-bolts. Its very noisy, however there’s only about 1.5 minutes of hammer drilling per installation.

For installations on drywall with studs behind, there’s typically barely any noise. Just a normal drill in to soft materials.

Not really! Many customers aren’t able to be present during our business hours, but we have many workarounds. We are as flexible as you are.

Option 1: Most customers leave their garage/shed, or house accessible so we can provide the service while they’re away.

  • Hide a garage remote or door key.
  • Leave a key it with a neighbour.

Option 2: Organise our arrival time for when you’re there, and we can lock-up when we’re done.

All the racks we sell are quality parts, made for a specific purpose, and made to do that job really well. We are a professional service, and we provide products that we believe in. Basic hooks from the hardware store are made to hold all sorts of bits and pieces, and don’t offer the features that we’ll dive in to below.

Take for instance the Steadyracks and Roll-On racks. This style of bike rack lets you swing the bike upright on to its rear wheel in one quick action (OR you can hold the rear brake and walk it back using your bodyweight). From there, you only need to push the front wheel in to the rack and you’re done.

The point of these racks is that there’s NO LIFTING. This results in a hugely minimised strain on the body when loading the racks.

In stark contrast, the “wheel hook” and horizontal style bike racks do require you to lift bike fully off the ground, and carefully position it in a way that it doesn’t hit the spokes or valve, doesn’t fall, and doesn’t grab on any other bikes. You need to precariously balance the bike with two hands and one knee sticking out to the saddle. This is awkward and requires good balance.

Since the premium vertical racks swivel side to side, it allows easy access from the perfect angle, this further reduces body strain. Furthermore, you’re less likely to knock another bike off its rack or cause scratches.

A high quality rack with a professional installation will protect your car or other property from being hit by a bike that is stored badly, and can fall on to you or your property.

The racks that we sell are visually better looking, especially Steadyrack which dominates the market with its sleek black coverings and stunning chromed arms.

The racks we sell have a much higher load rating, and they spread the load wider against the mounting surface, minimizing the risk of fastener strip-out or hook failure.

Yes, definitely. We are specifically thinking of the Steadyracks and Roll-On racks. This style of bike rack lets you swing the bike upright on to its rear wheel in one quick action (OR you can hold the rear brake and walk it back using your bodyweight). From there, you only need to push the front wheel in to the rack and you’re done.

We often see bikes leaning on top of each other in a bit of a pile. We see this most often at fleets of bikes, like schools, and the result is derailleurs going out of tune, and bent brake discs. An easily avoidable problem with the proper bike racks installed, that will save you money in the long run.

Sure thing. Our website focuses on a core set of products that we feel serves the needs of 99% of our customers. We focus on premium products that do the job really well, and make the choices simple.

But there are many products out there. Let us know what you want and we can probably supply it for you, complete with local warranty.

It’s possible! Contact us for a quote – let us know all the usual details… where its to be installed, any particular way you want it to sit, what model of racks they are, how many, and finally share some photos of your space.

We’ll contact you and come up with a custom quote.

Fair pricing –  not all jobs and not all racks require them. They are only required for brick and concrete installations, so we only charge it for those jobs. Unfortunately they are not included as a standard fastener with the racks that we sell. Since we value safety and longevity above all else, we have mandated dyna-bolts as upgrade for a more reliable and professional fitment.

They also give us the choice to specify the length and diameter of the dyna-bolts, which gives us more flexibility to respond to difficult technicalities, such as as hollow bricks or hollow concrete blocks.

Our work speaks for itself
